Finding God’s Provision in the Wilderness

Finding God’s Provision in the Wilderness
November 10, 2018

For so many different reasons, it has been a hard time out in the wilderness. One of these reasons is the affordability of medical care. I found out recently about the medical coverage of the company and the out of pocket cost per month is more than what I can afford at this time. My current position is unique and I had just been informed this week that there is a federal law that provides some extra money to go towards purchasing medical coverage. When I was informed of this, I became overjoyed that God knows my situation and at the right time provides for this need.

Earlier this year I went to the hospital to get some cough medicine when I had a cold. The self-payment for a visit was $100. The doctor recommended a few different items costing over $100. I thought back to when I was growing up and went to the hospital for a cold. I think it was $5 for a visit and $10 or so for the medicine. That was not that long ago. I will refrain from making political statements about health care in the United States, but this week, I was so amazed that God knows the situation I am in right now and He made a provision. There is a verse I often think about:

19 And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

The writer to the Philippian church, the Apostle Paul says to the church and says to us today that God will provide out of His riches for our needs. The context is that Paul is expressing his thanks to them for a financial gift. Money is a very sensitive issue for so many including those in the church, but as we are generous to helping others, God provides what we need.

What needs do you have today and what promise do you need to trust God for?

prayer:
Father in Heaven, thank You for knowing each one of our situations. Thank You that there are stories from history and today of how You provide for people in so many different ways. I give thanks to You for how You provide for me. Please show us from experience that Your promises are true, even when sometimes we do not yet see them manifested.
