Giving Thanks When I do not feel like it

Giving Thanks When I do not feel like it
December 8, 2018

It is December now and not even winter. This was the first week I actually wore a sweater this week for the first time this season. It is interesting because four months ago it was still temperatures in the 100s. It is so hard to give thanks some times when I do not feel like it. I remember a passage of Scripture that is related to prayer:

6 Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks.  7 And God’s peace, which is so great we cannot understand it, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6)

The passage says to not worry about anything but asking God what we need. And then it says to always give thanks. I think this is the hardest part. It is so easy to give thanks when things are going well and circumstances are nice, and the sune is shining, but not easy when it is cold, the people seem cold, and there is not much sunshine. I need so much to have God’s strength in these moments.

Father in Heaven, there are moments when it is hard to give thanks. It is not even winter yet and it gets much colder and the people in this place are not too nice, and there seems to be less sunshine, and so I ask that You give each person reading this including myself the strength to make it in whatever moment or season we are in and to see Your goodness right where we are at and to have the understanding that You are here, and there is reason to give thanks.
