God Knows Us
March 23, 2019
I have reflected on the idea of knowing and relationship recently. There are different levels of knowing. The cashier at the local market changes often, and so I don’t really know them. My brother in Japan I do not talk to that much, but I have known since I was very young. I know my wife more than any other person, and spend time with her often. I know God, not as well as I would like, but at the same time, God knows me. A verse in the Psalms really became relevant for me this week.
“Lord, you have examined me
and know all about me.” (Psalm 139:1)
God knows all about me. I am thinking about a moment two days ago in McDonald’s. We got our usual meal, but somehow, we ended up with two drinks. In the winter time, my wife does not like drinks with ice, but in every season and everyday I like drinks with ice. My wife had her drink without ice, and then the cashier gave a drink with ice. We ended up unexpectedly with one drink extra, in addition to the coffee I had ordered. Now, this might seem very insignificant, but to me, God knows I like ice, and we got an extra drink with ice. It was a simple moment, but for me it was a God moment.
In what ways has God shown to you that He knows you?
Father in Heaven, thanks for the reality and the experience that You know us. Thank You that You show that in very real ways that are meaningful to us. Sometimes we miss these moments and so please open our eyes to Your kindness and love.
