Praying For God’s Help
March 16, 2019
I have been wrestling with the practice of prayer for a while, and our church has been going through a series of sermons on prayer. This is the fourth week in that series and three weeks ago we took our car in for the bumper to get pained. The job itself was not too good, but we accepted it until a week ago when some random yellow spot showed up. We took it back in and they said they would repaint it but all they did was buff the yellow spot which made it look worse. We took the car in a third time where they said they would repaint it in which they did. Not only did it take time, but dropping the car off there, we had to Uber back to home. Had the job been done right the first time, we would not need to Uber four times this week. We had been in prayer much this week at all this unfairness and frustration and wondered at times if God cares about this situation. There is a passage in Luke I think of:
6 The Lord said, “Listen to what the unfair judge said. 7 God will always give what is right to his people who cry to him night and day, and he will not be slow to answer them. 8 I tell you, God will help his people quickly. But when the Son of Man comes again, will he find those on earth who believe in him?” (Luke 18:16-18)
I recognized after the third time and the repaint and that they did a much beter job, that God was present in our situation and He does care and He goes help, but often we do not like the process. Sometimes it takes longer than we want, and there are moments when God seems absent, but He is always there.
Father in Heaven, thank Yu that You care about our situation and are there with us through everything. Sometimes we do not recognize it and so please help us to recognize how You are at work in each situation. Thank You that You help us and care for us.
