The Journey in Knowing God

The Journey in Knowing God
February 16, 2019

I have been struggling a bit in my faith. I have seen God at work in different times in my life, but in recent times it has felt like a spiritual wilderness not just being in the physical desert. I have been going through the book of Jeremiah where the context is a nation in chaos and moral corruption. God says these words:

23 Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches,
24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 9:23-24)

There is nothing wrong with riches, wealth, or strength, but God wants people to understand and know Him, and in the things that He delights in, which are justice, righteousness, and steadfast love. I am at the place right now where I feel as though I do not know God as well as I would like, and that is my prayer that I would know God more and understand the things that matter to Him.

Father in Heaven, I am really struggling in my faith right now and find it hard to see Your goodness, love and I am just in a spiritual wilderness right now and do not know what to do. I need Your help to make it through this time and to experience Your presence, power, and love. Please help me to understand and know You in such a way that I am able to not just survive here, but thrive in the place where You have me located.
