Trying to Understand What I do not Understand

Trying to Understand What I do not Understand
January 26, 2019

There was a moment earlier this week where I had an appointment with a mechanic on Monday early in the morning. It was suddenly postponed until later. I did not fully understand that God provided this delay for a reason. As I woke up early Monday morning, heavy winds hit this desert and I paused in that moment to give thanks that I did not need to go to this appointment. There is a passage in Isaiah I often think about:

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

God’s ways are not our ways, and sometimes we do not understand what He is doing. So many times I complain being out in the desert, and I hope there is an opportunity to move somewhere soon, but sometimes I just do not understand the wisdom of God and the plan of God.

Father in Heaven, so often I complain about things I do not understand. Help me to trust that You know what is best in these situations. I really want to go to some other place, but even in that I need Your wisdom and guidance. I pray for myself, and anyone reading this that we would understand and experience Your goodness and love even in difficult moments we find very discouraging. Thank You that You walk with us through every moment of our lives.
