Why Relationships Matter

Why Relationships Matter
January 12, 2019

Earlier this week I spoke with some friends over the phone back in my hometown. It has been over two years since I last saw them. It was so nice to connect, even over the phone. Living in the desert has been so hard in so many ways and finding friends has been especially hard. A passage in the book of Hebrews comes to mind:

24 Let us think about each other and help each other to show love and do good deeds.  25 You should not stay away from the church meetings, as some are doing, but you should meet together and encourage each other. Do this even more as you see the day coming. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

The importance of relationships is to experience the giving and receiving of love in genuine relationships. It is important to encourage one another as so often the challenges of life weigh us down and we were not meant to live in isolation. I don’t know how much longer I can stay in this place as it is so hard to make friends here.

Father in Heaven, it has been super hard to live in the desert and one of those reasons is that it is hard to find life-giving community here. I thank You for my friends that I can connect over the phone, but more important is having that in person interaction and encouragement. I don’t know how much longer I can stay here. Please let me, and please lead whoever is reading this to the place where we can experience genuine, life-giving relationships.
